By the end of this course you should have a good understanding of the following:

  • Definitions of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
  • The global burden of hypertensive disease
  • Maternal cardiovascular adaptation in normal pregnancy
  • Pathophysiology of hypertensive disease in pregnancy
  • Risk factors for hypertensive disorders in pregnancy
  • Pre-conception care: reducing risk
  • Diagnosis (Complications & Eclampsia
  • HELLP syndrome
  • Monitoring (Correct measurement of blood pressure in pregnancy & Urine analysis)
  • Management (Antenatal, Intrapartum care & Postnatal)
  • Counselling women after a pregnancy complicated by pre-eclampsia
  • Care of women with chronic hypertension

  • There are 12 modules in this program
  • You can save your work and come back to complete each module in your own time
  • At the end of each module there will be a short multiple choice test
  • A mark of 75% or more is required in each module to pass the assessment
  • You will be issued a certificate to upload for your portfolio
